Westfield achieves WELL Health-Safety Rating

For the second year in a row, the Westfield Campus has achieved the WELL Health-Safety Rating through the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). This milestone signifies the company’s proactive and progressive initiatives to help protect the health and safety of its employees and guests. This rating applies to the Home Office, Westfield Country Club, Blair Center, and Westfield Inn.

The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating for all new and existing buildings focusing on operational policies, maintenance protocols, stakeholder engagement and emergency plans to address a post-COVID-19 environment now and into the future.

“For many years, Westfield has been a leader in employee health, safety, and wellness and those efforts have been critical in maintaining operations through the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Jennifer Palmieri, Westfield’s Chief People Officer.  “The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an important recognition to instill confidence in those who use and visit our facilities. It’s another validation of how Westfield values and promotes overall well-being.” 

Around the home office campus, you will see the WELL Health-Safety Rating displayed.  A QR code on the seal will direct users to a website with more information about the program.

In its efforts to achieve the WELL Health-Safety Rating, Westfield has implemented features such as improved cleaning practices and regular testing of indoor air and water. Many of Westfield’s existing practices and benefits also aligned to the rating’s standards, making the application process easier. The table below demonstrates how Westfield achieved the rating, and the final report explains the health benefits of each feature.

 

Many Service Office locations also align to the WELL Health-Safety criteria. All eligible Westfield employees receive access to the same health services, and all business units participate in continuity and re-entry planning. Furthermore, most building owners and managers have implemented heightened cleaning, HVAC and safety practices over the past year. At least three of our office buildings have officially received the WELL Health-Safety Rating, too.

Created by IWBI, the WELL Health-Safety Rating is informed by guidance developed by the World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), global disease control and prevention centers and emergency management agencies, recognized standard-making bodies, such as ASTM International and ASHRAE, and leading academic and research institutions. IWBI has leveraged insights from its Task Force on COVID-19, established at the outset of the pandemic to help business and building leaders integrate actionable insights and proven strategies in the fight against COVID-19 and other respiratory infections.
