Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

We’re committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), taking thoughtful steps to create a culture that embraces all people and enables possibility.

Hands formed into a heart.

Westfield’s Approach to DEI

At Westfield, DEI is a business imperative. That’s why we have a strategy that includes agents and brokers, customers, suppliers, the community, and our employees. We are committed to integrating DEI across all operations, because for Westfield, this work is not an initiative — it’s core to who we are. In fact, our approach to DEI landed us on Seramount’s Inclusion Index in 2022 and 2023. Although we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, we realize there is more work to do.

Our DEI Journey

We understand that truly inclusive companies aren’t formed overnight. Our DEI journey began over a decade ago, and it has always been intentional and thoughtful. Along the way, we’ve openly shared our successes and challenges — consistently learning and seeking ways to deepen our commitment. Here are some of our accomplishments so far.

  • Established a strong foundation through training and education.
  • Created a roadmap and strategy that spans employee, agent, customer, community, and suppliers.
  • Named DEI as a business imperative and created tools to help drive leadership accountability.
  • Established DEI Champions, an ecosystem of stakeholder groups who help drive progress forward.
  • Created forums for open dialogue, leveraging culture practices.
  • Identified milestones and committed to sharing progress.

To reach our DEI goals, we’ve formed an entire ecosystem comprised of six ERGs, DEI Champions, an Inclusion Council, and Action Team.

What ERG Members Are Saying

Being a part of Westfield’s Pride Alliance has profoundly impacted my sense of belonging and pride in my workplace. It’s a space where authenticity isn’t just accepted; it’s celebrated. Westfield has shown me that a truly inclusive culture is not about fitting in but about standing out and being supported in every step of that journey.

DEI in the Workplace

Employee Resource Groups

At Westfield, corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion is more than an initiative — it’s part who we are and is engrained into every level of our operations. One way we hold true to our DEI commitment is our employee resource groups (ERGs).

These collaborative groups, which began in 2012, drive inclusion, enhance personal development, support business outcomes, and act as a resource to other employees. Our employees are highly engaged with over 41% of our team choosing to join one or more ERGs. All ERGs are employee-driven with members working together to share information and create lasting change. Explore our ERGs and learn more about their purpose.

Our Inclusion Statement From Our CEO

Growing up with a father who was a musician, composer, and university professor, I was immersed in the rich diversity of college campuses. These vibrant environments, filled with different perspectives and cultures, shaped my understanding of the profound value of inclusion. When I transitioned into the workforce, I encountered a more rigid structure, which highlighted for me the immense importance of fostering diversity—a principle that continues to guide me today.

As President, CEO, and Board Chair, I am proud of the dedication and commitment our leaders, employees, independent agents, and brokers have shown toward diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). At Westfield, DEI is not a mandate; rather, we view it as the harmonious blending of our collective strengths to ensure resiliency and success.

Our ethos has always been rooted in doing what’s right, and today, as a global organization, DEI is the cornerstone of our mission, vision, and values. It’s also a strategic priority embedded into every facet of our enterprise. To us, DEI isn’t about conformity or meeting quotas. It’s about bringing together different genders, cultures, races, backgrounds, and perspectives to collaboratively solve problems and achieve our goals.

I’m proud of the progress we’ve made at Westfield, and I recognize there is still much work ahead. With DEI a driving force behind all we do, I am optimistic about the future and the endless possibilities for everyone that lie ahead.
