How to Shift the Conversation from Cost to Value

When customers compare home and auto insurance policies, it’s easy for the conversation to focus on premium, but price alone rarely tells the full story.

As an independent agent, you can help customers understand what they're getting — not just what they’re paying. Package policies like WesPak® and WesPak Estate® make that conversation easier. From broader protection and proactive loss prevention to a simpler customer experience and responsive claims service, there are many reasons customers choose these policies.

When they recognize the value built into their policy, they’re more likely to feel confident in their decision — and less likely to shop at renewal. Here are a few things to highlight to help customers see beyond the premium.

Built-In Protection

Rather than comparing individual coverages or endorsements, encourage customers to consider how well the policy protects against both everyday risks and life’s bigger “what if” moments.

WesPak and WesPak Estate include more protection from the start, with higher coverage limits and key coverages built into the policy instead of being added piece by piece. That approach helps minimize potential coverage gaps while still giving customers the flexibility to tailor their coverage to their needs.

WesPak Coverage Highlights

WesPak is designed to provide broad protection with many commonly selected coverages already included. Along with core home and auto coverages, it includes expanded replacement cost for the dwelling up to 125% of Coverage A and higher personal property limits.

Coverage highlights include:

  • One-year replacement cost on new vehicles
  • Loan/Lease Gap
  • Trip Interruption
  • Transportation Expense (daily and aggregate limits)

WesPak Estate Coverage Highlights

For customers with more complex coverage needs, WesPak Estate builds on that foundation with guaranteed replacement cost coverage for the home and valuable protections that customers might otherwise overlook.

Coverage highlights include:

Everyday Convenience

Our package policies make insurance easier to manage by bringing home and auto coverage together under one policy, one bill, and one renewal. In certain situations, customers may also benefit from a shared deductible when a single covered event impacts both their home and auto.

Our MyWestfield® customer portal adds another layer of convenience, giving customers one place to access policy information, pay bills, file and track certain claims, and manage their account when it’s convenient for them.

Together, these features create a more streamlined insurance experience, making it easier for customers to stay engaged with their coverage throughout the life of the policy.

Proactive Loss Prevention

Insurance isn’t just about helping customers recover after a loss. It’s also about helping them prevent one. Westfield offers eligible customers access to proactive loss-prevention tools like the Ting® fire safety sensor and service1 and the LeakBot® water leak detection device2, helping identify potential issues before they become costly losses. Customers also have access to a library of educational articles that explain coverages and prepare them for common risks.

These value-added resources demonstrate Westfield’s commitment to helping customers protect what matters most through comprehensive coverage and ongoing support.

Responsive Claims Service

How an insurance company responds after a loss can be just as important as the coverage itself. A responsive claims team and a smooth claims process can provide reassurance during an already stressful time.

Discuss what they can expect if they ever need to file a claim, and when appropriate, share customer stories that illustrate how Westfield has supported policyholders through the claims process.

Savings Opportunities

Price will always be part of the conversation, but it doesn’t have to be the starting point. After discussing everything the policy has to offer, round out the conversation by discussing savings opportunities.

Depending on eligibility, customers may qualify for:

  • MissionSafe® safe driving program3 participation, with opportunities to earn savings for maintaining safe driving habits.
  • Multi-policy discounts for customers with eligible Westfield business policies.
  • Loyalty discount for customers with continuous Westfield home and/or auto coverage, available after one year.
  • Prior carrier discount for auto policyholders with three or more years of continuous coverage with a prior carrier.
  • Young driver discounts for eligible students, including full-time students with qualifying grades, drivers who have completed an eligible driver training course, and college students living away from home without a vehicle at school.
  • Safety-related discounts for customers with qualifying loss-prevention features, such as central burglar and fire alarms, whole-house generators, and sprinkler systems.

The Complete Insurance Experience

Customers who understand everything their policy offers are often less focused on finding the lowest premium each year. Instead, they’re considering the overall experience, including how the policy supports them before, during, and after a loss.

By shifting the conversation from “How much does it cost?” to “What does this policy do for you?”, you can help customers make more informed decisions while building stronger, longer-lasting relationships.

All coverages are subject to the limits set forth in a customer’s policy. Coverage varies by policy, state, and individual selections, and some features may require enrollment.
