Why this matters
Farming continues to evolve, and drones are becoming a valuable tool for common tasks such as crop scouting, aerial imaging, monitoring storm damage and evaluating crop health. As this technology becomes more widely used, customers may need protection that keeps pace with the way they work.
Unmanned Aircraft (Drone) Coverage extends beyond the drone itself to include property and liability protection, with optional Limited Pollution Liability coverage available.
What you need to know
Unmanned Aircraft (Drone) Coverage:
- Is designed for farm operations, not Commercial Agribusiness policies
- Provides property and liability protection for individually scheduled unmanned aircraft
- Requires the Farm Property – Farm Personal Property Coverage Form
- Requires unmanned aircraft liability coverage when property coverage is selected
- Is available for drones weighing less than 1 pound up to 55 pounds
- May provide additional capacity for drones weighing more than 55 pounds and up to 330 pounds (fully loaded), subject to underwriter review
- Is not eligible for blanket property coverage
Where required, unmanned aircraft operations must comply with all applicable governmental registration, licensing and authorization requirements.
