Westfield has been named as a recipient of a 5-Star Excellence Award in the category: Construction Insurance by Insurance Business America Magazine (IBA). Construction is the largest segment of business Westfield provides, through insurance and commercial surety bonds, so we have a deep appreciation for the dedication of contractors. 5-Star Awards recognize outstanding service and product providers in the insurance sector. The Awards are new to the market and originated from IBA research about the top searches on its website.

What Construction Customers Need

At Westfield, customers are at the center of everything we do. When a customer faces a loss, from day one, we give them the tools to rebuild and then we take it a step further by analyzing how we can prevent risks from happening in the first place. Part of that includes sharing research and offering data to help our customers build better businesses. Our goal is to make good on our promise and get our customers back to where they were before the loss and, ideally, even better than before. One of our construction customers had a claim and we provided a tailored, low-effort experience that met the unique needs of the company. We recognize construction workers are often on the road helping customers, so when this customer needed to recover from a theft incident, we provided customer service with an easy online process and through the convenience of text messages. It was important to meet the customer where they were without any added stress and, with technology, it was a personalized way to help the business recover quickly. The customer commented “Thank you for all your support through this rough time. You made it very easy to overcome and get back on track.”

What Agents Are Looking For

To help Insurance Business Magazine select the 5-Star Construction Insurers, thousands of insurance professionals, brokers and agents chimed in on what’s most important to them when selecting an insurer for their construction clients. Research participants were asked to rate construction insurance providers across several criterion, including coverage, claims payments, value for money, service to brokers, online platform, underwriting expertise, and more.

To narrow the 5-Star insurers, the survey asked agents and brokers which insurance companies they would recommend in sub-categories and then rate that insurer from 1-5, with 1 being poor service, 5 excellent services. Westfield received above-average scores in the following sub-categories:

  • Speciality Trade Contractors
  • Sub-Contractors
  • Developers & Owners
  • General Contractors
  • Commercial auto

5-Star Awards are being presented to construction insurance providers rated as ‘excellent’ across all criteria.
