Westfield Helps Provide 400,000 Meals to Local Families in Need
WESTFIELD CENTER, OH – July 9, 2019 — Westfield, a super-regional, customer-focused insurance carrier, is passionate about championing a better, brighter future for our customers and the communities we serve. Now, Westfield is thrilled to help bring a new era of professional golf to the Firestone Country Club as a founding partner of the Bridgestone SENIOR PLAYERS Championship through 2022. For more than a decade, professional events at Firestone have contributed more than a million dollars to local charities and this new sponsorship ensures professional golf’s 65-year tradition in northeast Ohio will continue to benefit the greater Akron community.
As a founding sponsor, Westfield is proud to make an annual donation of $100,000 to Bridgestone’s long-time partner, Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. The Foodbank feeds more than 263,000 different people annually through its network of hunger-relief programs, including children whose parents struggle to put food on the table and seniors on fixed incomes. Through this donation, 400,000 meals will be provided to people in need each year. This video shows Westfield’s commitment to helping friends and neighbors.
“The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is tremendously grateful for the opportunity to partner with Westfield and the Bridgestone SENIOR PLAYERS tournament,” said Dan Flowers, Foodbank President and CEO. “Westfield has been a longstanding and committed partner to hunger relief in our community. They have provided financial support, encourage staff engagement and volunteerism, and serve in leadership roles on our Board of Directors. Their continued support of the Foodbank and our work has helped provide millions of meals over the years.”

Helping communities during times of need is deeply engrained in Westfield’s 170-year history in northeast Ohio. The Westfield Insurance Foundation was established as an independent private foundation endowed by Westfield and exists as a dedicated community and industry partner; concentrating resources to improve the safety and stability of communities.
The Bridgestone SENIOR PLAYERS Championship will be held July 8-14, 2019 at Firestone Country Club’s South Course. The tournament will feature two official pro-ams during tournament week. The official tournament pro-am will be contested at Firestone Country Club’s South Course on Wednesday, July 10, with the Westfield Legends Pro-Am set for Thursday, July 11 at Westfield Country Club. The Legends Pro-Am will feature PGA TOUR Champions players age 60 and over such as Craig Stadler, Sandy Lyle, Larry Nelson, Jim Thorpe and Gary Koch competing in a pro-am format at the newly renovated Westfield Country Club.

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is a nonprofit organization with a vision of a thriving community free of hunger. This year, 1 in 7 people in Northeast Ohio will face hunger, and the Foodbank will be there to help. Westfield Legends PRO-AM
The Westfield Legends Pro-Am will feature PGA TOUR Champions players age 60 and over competing in a Pro-Am format on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Westfield Country Club's South Course in Westfield Center, Ohio. The course was the former venue for the Junior PGA Tournament in 2001-2007 and has recently been renovated by famed architect Michael Hurdzan. Charitable proceeds from the event will benefit the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and the northeast Ohio community.
