
Robert Looney

Rob Looney is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Westfield Insurance, where he leads a global finance team spanning investment management, accounting and reporting, financial planning and analysis, tax, and treasury services. He also serves as a board member of Westfield Specialty Ltd., parent of Westfield’s Lloyd’s Managing Agency and Syndicate 1200.
Since joining Westfield, Rob has played a central role in the company’s transformation into a diversified, international property and casualty insurer with a growing specialty business. He has advanced a multi-year finance modernization program to strengthen insight, streamline systems, and support growth at scale. Under his leadership, Westfield transitioned from Statutory Accounting Principles to U.S. GAAP, enhanced board and management reporting, and reorganized its finance leadership structure to align with the company’s evolving global portfolio.
Previously, Rob served as Chief Financial Officer of Westfield Specialty, where he partnered with business leaders to launch the U.S. specialty platform and extend it internationally through the acquisition and integration of Lloyd’s Syndicate 1200. His oversight of reinsurance strategy, portfolio management, and expense discipline helped accelerate the business to profitability ahead of plan.
Before joining Westfield, Rob held senior leadership roles at AXIS Capital, including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of AXIS Re, directing the finance and operations of a $4 billion global reinsurance business. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers serving insurance and financial services clients and later held investment banking leadership roles at KeyBanc Capital Markets and Advest, advising insurance companies on capital markets and strategic transactions. A recognized thought leader in insurance finance and strategy, Rob is a regular contributor at industry events and conferences, where he shares insights on financial transformation, capital strategy, and the evolving global insurance landscape.
Rob earned his MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Villanova University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses. He has served on nonprofit and industry boards and remains actively engaged in advisory groups that support the insurance sector, education, and community development.
