Henning Haagen serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Underwriting Officer at Westfield Insurance, spearheading the enterprise-wide underwriting strategy, standards, and governance across our global portfolio of personal, commercial, surety, and specialty lines. Based in New York City, he joined the company in September 2025.

In his leadership capacity, Henning chairs the Enterprise Underwriting Portfolio Strategy Committee, shaping Westfield’s risk appetite and aggregation frameworks. He is accountable for underwriting excellence—from elevating quality and aligning risk capabilities to defining the enterprise ceded reinsurance strategy. Henning’s vision aligns underwriting discipline with sustainable, profitable growth and strong return on equity and drives enterprise-wide standardization, innovation, and cross-functional alignment.

Globally seasoned with decades of insurance and reinsurance leadership, Henning’s prior roles include Chief Underwriting Officer Specialty and Chief Regions and Market Officer at Allianz Commercial, where he worked 15 years in different global executive and board roles in Munich, London, and New York, and led global underwriting, sales and distribution, multinational, and claims operations.

Across the industry, Henning has been widely recognized for architecting and executing underwriting strategies that align risk tolerance with enterprise objectives, while amplifying multinational capabilities. His leadership has consistently delivered disciplined, profitable growth and operational efficiency across complex global portfolios.
