Westfield’s commitment to caring isn’t just a catchy phrase — it’s woven into the very fabric of who we are. Since our founding, we’ve viewed insurance as more than a business transaction. To us, it’s always been a promise to be there for families, businesses, and communities in times of need.

And we’ve kept this promise for over 175 years. Our legacy of caring continues today through financial giving, physical donations, employee volunteerism, and corporate support, such as board placements. Additionally, the Westfield Insurance Foundation distributes more than $3 million to our communities annually.

A significant portion of our charitable and volunteer efforts focus on three core areas: family stability, disaster recovery, and safety. We chose these areas because they align with the fundamental role that insurance plays as well our company’s core values. Within each area, we prioritize addressing the burdens suffered as a result of systemic racism, reinforcing our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Family Stability

Westfield supports nonprofits that help families overcome multiple barriers to stability. Our efforts concentrate on access to education, affordable housing, workforce development, and financial literacy.

Disaster Recovery

Westfield has shown unwavering commitment to disaster recovery, not just in immediate disaster relief efforts, but also in the rebuilding of communities. In the months after a disaster, most volunteers and media have left and donations have dwindled, but there are still years of work ahead. That’s where Westfield comes in. Our unique approach targets the community rebuilding phase, which is often overlooked and underfunded. We’ve partnered with several charities that focus on long-term recovery and support.

Fostering Safety

Westfield invests in safety measures for businesses and communities alike. We direct our attention to injury prevention and helping to mitigate the loss of life or property. Within this scope, our focus areas include fire safety education and fire mitigation for low-income populations, training that supports public sector safety organizations, and safer practices in construction and farming.

Each Westfield employee gets two days of volunteer time off, but our corporate volunteer program spans beyond these 16 hours. We regularly host volunteer activities and donation drives for a variety of causes. And we make donations to nonprofits where our employees volunteer their personal time.

Our National Reach

Northeast Ohio has long been our home, so we want to see this area thrive. That’s why more than half of our giving stays here. We contribute to economic engines, such as Cleveland’s Playhouse Square, Team NEO, The Fund for Our Economic Future, and the Greater Cleveland Partnership.

However, with employees located across the country, we’ve expanded and localized our efforts. We match dollar-for-dollar employee contributions to certain national nonprofits.

Our independent agents also share in our legacy of caring. Each year we invite our premier agents to nominate deserving nonprofits that align with our giving objectives. Through this program, we donate more than $500,000 to neighborhoods across the country.
