Habitat for Humanity of Summit County and Westfield Insurance Paint Together for Deserving Families

Akron, Ohio, May 19, 2015 - Habitat for Humanity of Summit County, in partnership with Westfield Insurance, will host a unique volunteer day on May 19 in the Westfield Insurance Home Office parking lot where the doors and wall trim of two homes will be painted by Westfield employees. This event is an extension of the unique mobile work days' program first established in 2013 by Habitat for Humanity of Summit County and Westfield. At that event in 2013, Westfield employees built the wall panels of homes for two homeowners. In 2014, the project included trim and door painting.

In addition to providing the labor needed to paint and build, Westfield Insurance Foundation will donate $6,300 to allow Habitat for Humanity to purchase all the materials needed for this project.

Westfield Insurance, which has been involved with Habitat for Humanity since 2000, seeks to support community development programs that improve business and living conditions; safety programs that prevent accidents in homes, cars and businesses; and educational programs that provide avenues to future employment.

This year, Westfield expects more than 150 volunteers! Last year, 123 volunteers participated.

Westfield employees also volunteered for a similar activity in 2014, in which volunteers painted trim and doors. The media are invited to take photos and video footage of the employees working hard, as well as interview the future homeowners who will also be helping to paint the trim and doors of their homes.
