Westfield Appoints Bernaski to Board of Directors


WESTFIELD CENTER, OHIO February 17, 2011 Michael Bernaski was recently elected to the board of directors of Westfield Insurance on December 21, 2010.

Currently, Bernaski is a director of an asset management firm that launched this fall and will offer mutual funds to institutional investors. In addition, he serves as a Research Fellow at the University of Minnesota, investigating the May 6, 2010 "Flash Crash". Previously, Bernaski served as principal of KPMG LLP Advisory Services, an audit, tax and advisory company from 2007-2010. During tenure at KPMG he played a variety of client facing and internal roles such as upgrading the reinsurance strategy for a global P&C company and developing a global growth strategies.

Bernaski also served as the Chief Information Officer for a large financial services company in 2004-2005. While holding this position he was responsible for $12 billion in revenue and oversaw a financial budget of $550 million. Bernaski contributed to significant improvements in distribution, underwriting, administration and claims areas while serving in this role.

During 15 years as a Partner for Accenture Business Consulting, Bernaski served more than 30 financial service clients. Though his representative client work, Bernaski gained insurance experience in life, personal & commercial lines and insurance brokerage business. In addition, Bernaski was able to increase efficiency and quality improvements that had a significant impact on relationships and the operational strategy of property and casualty underwriting.
