Westfield Insurance Joins Rebuilding Together

Westfield Insurance Joins Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh on Saturday, April 30 for National Rebuilding Day.

WESTFIELD CENTER, OHIO, April 28, 2011 – Westfield Insurance, their customers and business partners support National Rebuilding Day, an event designed to help low-income seniors and disabled homeowners with home repairs. A team of Westfield employees, customers AJ Stones Company and Miller Electric Construction, and business partners Disaster Restoration Services and the law firm of Dell, Moser, Lane & Loughney, LLC will work on a home in Oakland.

The home will receive major overhauls including a complete electrical renovation and a new heating system. Volunteers will also help with general debris removal, painting and installation of safety features such as handrails and smoke and CO detectors.

“When a home isn’t maintained it creates safety issues,” said Sal Schiavone, surety underwriter from Westfield’s Cranberry Service Office and organizer of Westfield’s involvement. “Where there are safety issues today, there may be an insurance claim tomorrow.”

“Westfield supports programs that invigorate communities by improving business and living conditions,” said Jani Davis, Westfield’s community investment leader. “Community revitalization is a core focus area for us. Our employees become heavily engaged across many of our operating territories through partnerships with Rebuilding Together and Habitat for Humanity.”

“We look forward to this project every year,” said Schiavone. "One of our customers, A.J. Stones, is the house captain, and Miller Electric Construction, one of our surety clients, is performing all of the electrical work. One of our vendors, Disaster Restoration Services, is engaged as well - so it’s a team effort.”
