I had never seen it rain so hard before. The water was surging down our street like a raging river - and very quickly the storm sewers were overwhelmed. I was afraid to look in our basement - and when I did, my fears were confirmed: we had a real mess on our hands. The sewer drains had backed up into our basement. The real mess came when we found out that our homeowner's policy didn't cover for sewer/drain backup.
