Medina County University Center

<< RETURN HOME

As the largest employer in Medina County, where our Home Office campus is located, Westfield is proud to be the largest private contributor to this University of Akron post-secondary campus. The Medina County University Center (MCUC) opened for classes in early 2008 to provide higher education to local residents and business, helping both companies and employees remain competitive.

This partnership began in 2003 when Westfield Insurance made a pledge to The University of Akron Foundation in support of the MCUC, a 33,000 square foot structure offering varied curriculum to support Medina and surrounding counties.

Several Westfield employees serve on various committees and are committed to keeping the lines of communication open. Westfield Insurance will receive the following naming rights: Westfield Insurance Training and Conference Facility. Doors opened for classes January 14, 2008. In 2009, in partnership with Westfield Insurance employees, MCUC offered insurance certification programs, among the broad variety of customized courses including standard college courses, specialized certificate programs and workforce development workshops. What makes MCUC unique is its flexibility to deliver programming designed specifically in response to the needs of the local community.

In addition to this secondary education being a resource for local industry and residents, it serves as a wonderful community resource for gatherings and meetings. It has been and will continue to be a very successful private/public partnership.
